Marketing without the meat.
This year, we decided to try something completely different with our marketing. Marketing without the meat.
What I mean by that, is that we actually marketed without using photographs. What?!!! Are you kidding me? You must be getting old and senile, because how in the world can you sell photography without photographs?
Follow me here.
Everyone is talking about how good their photography is. Even the people that are really bad say the same things. ” I do photography because I have a passion for it”. “I’ve always wanted to be a photographer, so I decided to”. blah blah blah That’s all anyone hears. We have become a generic bunch of snake oil salesmen.
I decided to sell the personality of our studio instead.
Some people have always said that I am a bit off, strange, different, or sometimes just plain goofy. I embrace that. I have always marched to my own drummer, and I take all those comments as compliments. I never want to be boring, or staid.
Why not use this as a selling point for the studio?
Essie is a goof too, why not use that as a selling point? I love the color orange, why not use that? I have two wonderful kids, do you not think moms would want to know that?
I’m always talking about selling the “why” instead of the “what”. I went literal with it and started the video campaign, posted on facebook daily called ” Why?”
It’s just a series of videos explaining “Why Left Turn Studio” using all of these goofy thing about us that makes us different from all the other boring ” I do photography because it is my passion” studios.
Both our hits to our sites and our bookings went up!
